Human

Personality :

Humans are the most adaptable, flexible, and ambitious people among the common races. They are diverse in their tastes, morals, customs and habits, and they have a strong tendency to conform to the longer-lived races they live among. Some accuse them of having little respect for history, but it’s only natural that humans, with their relatively short life spans would have a shorter collective memory than dwarves, elves, or gnomes.

Physical description :

Humans typically stand from 5 feet to a little over 6 feet tall and weigh from 125 to 250 pounds, with men noticeably taller and heavier than women. Thanks to their penchant for migration, and to their short life spans, humans are more physically diverse than other common races. Their skin is often tanned or dark in colour to represent the environment of the wastes. Some humans are paler in skin and this usually represents a family line which has not had to deal with the harshness of the sun. It is often seen as a sign of affluence for a human to have paler skin as they rarely need to travel outside and therefore have others who work for them so they need not be bothered by the sun. Hair color can vary but lighter hair is much more common. Eye colour varies a lot and all possible colours are possible with blue and brown being the most common. Humans have short life spans, reaching adulthood at about age 15 and rarely living even a single century.

Relations :

Just as readily as they mix with each other, humans mix with members of other races, among which they are known as “everyone’s second-best friends.” Humans serve as ambassadors, diplomats, magistrates, merchants, and functionaries of all kinds. It is the human tenacity and adaptability that has served them well in the wastelands of Ardentor. Humans strive to make connections with others of both their kind and other races.

Alignment :

Humans tend toward no particular alignment, not even neutrality. The best and the worst are found among them.

Lands :

Humans have adapted to the wastes a lot better than other races and although they have no natural traits that protect them from the harsh climate conditions, they have prospered in even the most dire of circumstances. Whilst some nomadic and tribal humans exist, the majority of humans follow a single Emperor and the human lands are divisions of the Emperors kingdom. Human settlements vary from small trading camps to massive cities but the size and nature of each settlement is usually dictated by natural resources mainly food and water.

Language :

Humans speak Common and although they can learn other languages, its only necessity that drives this and any human who finds little need to travel outside his home will typically never need to learn the languages of outsiders. Due to the nature of humankind, their language is in fact the Common language. When peoples of other races want to speak in another tongue other than theirs, the most popular method is speaking human, but everyone just calls it Common.
